Thermogenesis is the body spending energy as heat. Raise it slightly and a day burns slightly more than it otherwise would. Two rows on this panel are there for that, and they are the two with the most direct human measurements behind them.
Caffeine anhydrous, 100 mg
Caffeine blocks adenosine receptors, which lifts sympathetic activity, which raises the rate at which the body turns over fuel. A thermogenesis trial put caffeine against green tea and against the pair together and measured energy expenditure and intake for each. The effect is real, it is measured in hours rather than days, and it is the fastest thing in this capsule.
Cayenne pepper extract, 50 mg
Capsaicinoids act on a receptor in the gut that reports heat, and the response includes a small rise in resting metabolic rate. The pooled human studies report energy expenditure and fat oxidation moving together, and the trial that compared doses in people with high BMI used the non-pungent analogues that make a blinded comparison possible.
Why the two are on the panel together
They raise the same outcome through different receptors, which is the argument for pairing them rather than doubling one. The brown adipose tissue work shows the mechanism at tissue level: catechin and caffeine together raised cold-induced thermogenic capacity in people who had some to begin with.
The size of the effect, stated plainly

How do the LipoDyne botanical extracts work?
Two large rows, one clean laboratory mechanism each, and two very different human records.
The second proposal is about enzymes and signalling rather than about heat, and it is the one the two largest rows on the panel rest on. It is also the one where the laboratory story and the human results have diverged for twenty-five years.
Garcinia cambogia, and the enzyme it slows
Hydroxycitric acid inhibits ATP citrate lyase, a step in the conversion of carbohydrate into fatty acid. The mechanism is not in dispute. What has never followed from it is a consistent change in people: the two-week study that measured fat oxidation, energy expenditure and satiety in a controlled setting found no separation from placebo on any of them, and a review of its use as an adjunct reaches the same place from the clinical side.
Where garcinia has shown something
Away from body weight. A trial in obese women reported a lipid effect, a 2024 meta-analysis of leptin outcomes pooled what happens to the hormone that reports fat stores to the brain, and a muscle study found faster glycogen resynthesis after exercise. None of those is the claim on this bottle, and none of them is offered here as one.
Green tea catechins, and the caffeine underneath them
EGCG inhibits the enzyme that breaks down noradrenaline, which in theory extends the same sympathetic signal caffeine raises. Piperine, and the absorption of everything else
Black pepper extract is on the panel to make the other five rows go further. A formulation study lays out three routes at once: better solubility, better membrane permeability, and inhibition of the cytochrome P450 enzymes that would otherwise clear the compound first.
Why the label says before meals
Because two of these three depend on it. Acetic acid has to be present when the food arrives, and an absorption enhancer has to be present when the compounds it is enhancing are. A capsule taken at bedtime on an empty stomach is a different product from the one the bottle describes.

- Four rows cannot be converted into doses. Garcinia, green tea, vinegar powder and cayenne are extract or powder weights without a standardisation clause, so how much of the working compound arrives is a range rather than a figure.
- The vinegar evidence is thinner than it looks. The single most quoted trial in this ingredient’s literature was withdrawn in 2025, which the timeline page and the home page both deal with, and what is left used liquid rather than powder.
A once-daily capsule with one honestly dosed stimulant, a second thermogenic row at an unquantified strength, two botanicals whose best evidence is modest, a digestion row in the wrong form, and an absorption row doing its job.
